Fire Fighting and Emergency Response Team (ERT) Training

On last December 8 and 9, 2023, PTIS conducted an internal training for selected company employees to learn and understand the importance of establishing an Emergency Response Team (ERT) as the frontline preparedness for the company to face any potential disasters and emergencies that may occur in the future. This training focused particularly on handling incidents or events involving unforeseen fires, disasters resulting from accidents of various causes, rapid medical treatment, and workplace safety incidents. The training was conducted in collaboration with the Fire and Rescue Team from the Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP) over a span of 2 days.

An Emergency Response Team (ERT) is a group of trained individuals who are responsible for responding to and managing emergency situations. These teams are typically organized within organizations, companies, or government agencies to handle a wide range of emergencies, such as natural disasters, accidents, medical emergencies, or security incidents.

The primary goal of an ERT is to respond to emergencies, mitigate their impact, and ensure the safety and well-being of people and property quickly and effectively. ERT members are usually trained in various emergency response procedures, including first aid, firefighting, search and rescue, and other relevant skills.

Key responsibilities of an Emergency Response Team may include:

Emergency Planning: Developing and implementing emergency response plans to address various types of emergencies.
Training: Providing ongoing training to team members to ensure they are prepared and competent in responding to emergencies.
Communication: Establishing effective communication protocols to coordinate response efforts and keep stakeholders informed.
Evacuation: Coordinating and executing evacuation plans when necessary to ensure the safety of individuals in affected areas.
First Aid and Medical Response: Administering first aid and coordinating medical response activities to treat injuries and provide necessary medical care.
Firefighting: Responding to and managing fire emergencies, including using firefighting equipment and techniques.
Search and Rescue: Conducting search and rescue operations to locate and assist individuals in distress.
Security: Addressing security-related emergencies and collaborating with law enforcement when necessary.

ERTs are essential in a variety of settings, including businesses, industrial facilities, educational institutions, and government agencies. Their proactive approach to emergency preparedness and response helps minimize the impact of disasters and ensures a more effective and coordinated response when emergencies occur.
